Clinical Director
Rachel is the Clinical Director at Troytown. Originally from Calgary, Canada, Rachels love of horses started at a young age. Firstly as a competitive international showjumper which has progressed into a life-long passion. She has experience in being both FEI treating veterinarian and team veterinarian on the showjumping and eventing teams for Great Britan, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
Rachel is a board-certified specialist of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her main clinical interests lie in poor performance investigations, orthopedic sports injuries and a holisitic approach to managing the equine athlete. Rachel has more than a decade of experience practicing in the UK. She completed her training and residency at Rossdales, Newmarket, where she then worked as a senior clinician and key member of the team at the Rossdales Diagnostic Center. She has accumulated vast experience in every aspect of managing sport horses, thoroughbreds and leisure horses of all disciplines.
In her spare time Rachel enjoys breeding horses, both showjumping and thoroughbred, hiking, camping and spending time with her whippets Ash and Mylo.

Hugh Dillon MVB Cert ESM MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Hugh has over 40 years of experience working in every aspect of equine veterinary practice. He worked in Lambourn and West Sussex for almost ten years before returning to work in Kildare in 1992. He became a senior partner in Troytown Hospital and has been central to its running until 2018.
Hugh oversaw the development of the first diagnostic treadmill facility in private practice in the world in 2001. He is on the Goffs and Goresbridge Veterinary panels, is the FEI veterinary services manager for the Dublin Horse show, veterinary surgeon for Punchestown racecourse, nominated veterinary surgeon for the Hong Kong Jockey Club and representative for a range of Insurance underwriters based in London.
When not working Hugh enjoys trying to breed and train eventers for his children to compete on. While working in England he evented up to international three day event level and has ridden in over 50 races including being placed in the La Touche cup over the banks in Punchestown.

Bernadette Reinthaler Mag. Med. Vet.Vie MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon
Bernadette graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna in June 2017, followed by an internship at Valley Equine Hospital, UK from July 2018 until September 2019. She then worked in a private equine hospital in Austria for another 3 years. She is currently on an alternative sports medicine residency program within the American college of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation, which she started in July 2021. Since February 2023, she has been part of the team at Troytown Equine Centre as an ambulatory vet and sports medicine resident.
In her spare time, Bernadette likes to go for walks with her dog “Lukela” as well as horse riding.
